Pipunculidae of uncertain placement

Introduction

The 17 species listed above are of uncertain placement. The types need to be examined to determine the generic position of these species since the published descriptions are inadequate. The generic names indicated for these taxa are the names under which they were described. In many cases (Dorylas and Dorilas), these names are now invalid under a ruling by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1963).
